 Jerry L. Schwallier

President & CEO

  

 

With more than 35 years of experience in financial services, Schwallier brings exceptional banking skills to the position, including extensive knowledge of the Phoenix market.

Most recently, Schwallier was President and Chief Executive Officer of Southport Bank, Kenosha, Wis., and was the Chief Credit and Chief Lending Officer for Bank of Scottsdale. He was also President and Chief Operating Officer of Stearns Bank Arizona, NA, a subsidiary of Stearns Financial Companies. Prior to that, Schwallier was President of Marine Bank, Scottsdale, a subsidiary of CIB Marine Bancshares, Inc.

From 1998-2001, Schwallier served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Private Financial Services Group of Marquette Financial Companies, Minneapolis, which was subsequently acquired by Wells Fargo Corp. He was also previously President of Meridian Capital Bank, Milwaukee, a subsidiary of Marquette Financial. While there, Schwallier developed the private financial services strategy and was responsible for banking assets of more than $500 million.

From 1982 to 1998, Schwallier held various executive positions with Banc One Corp. and Bank One Wisconsin, including managing retail banking for southeast Wisconsin, Business Banking for the Midwest region, and served as President and CEO of Bank One Racine and Bank One Kenosha.  Schwallier began his banking career with American National Holding Company based in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

He received his master's degree in finance from Western Michigan University and is a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He served in the U.S. Army and is a Vietnam Era Veteran and served in Vietnam.

Schwallier has been active throughout his career in professional and community organizations and was a member of the Scottsdale Rotary Club and the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce's Partner Council.  He previously served as Chairman of the Racine Area Manufactures and Commerce Association as well as the Racine County Economic Development Corp.  He is a past President of Robert Morris Association's Michigan Chapter.

Under new federal regulations that will take effect August 15, 2010, Arizona Bank & Trust will no longer be able to authorize overdrafts on your checking accounts for the following transactions, unless you give us your permission by Opting-In.

  • ATM withdrawals and transfers
  • One-time debit card transactions

If you opt-in and one of these transactions overdraws your account, Arizona Bank & Trust may pay the transaction. If we do so, we will follow our standard overdraft policy. If you do not opt-in to this program, and you try to make transactions when you do not have sufficient funds, we generally will decline the transaction.
