Banking Solutions to take your business onward and UPWARD.
When UPWARD for Children and Families needed help, Arizona Bank & Trust was there. We sat down with them and worked out a creative solution, so they could quickly provide to our community. We provided flexibility on their construction loan while they awaited pledges—because they needed to make something happen sooner than later.
Because of this flexibility and a very consultative approach, UPWARD was able to get started on their much-needed construction project.
CRAFT BEER, CRAFT FOOD AND THE ART OF CONVERSATION
The story of SanTan Brewing Company is one of perpetual commitment and growth. In the nine short years since its founding, SanTan has become one of the top-producing craft breweries in Arizona. But the ambitions of the brewery—and its owner—don’t stop there.
Anthony Canecchia began brewing beer professionally in 1996—a craft brewer at a time when the term “craft beer” didn’t even exist. He spent eight years honing his skills as brewmaster for a well-regarded regional brewer. Then Canecchia’s senses of adventure and creativity combined, compelling him to think bigger.

“Plumbing isn’t something people typically enjoy spending their money on,” says Dannielle Julian, CEO, Plumbing Medic. “That’s why we really focus on delivering customers the very best services, solutions and experiences possible.”
OakCraft Elegant Cabinetry
With equipment purchased at an auction and the help of a trusted business partner, the Zachek family transformed a fledgling company into the largest cabinet manufacturer in the southwestern United States – OakCraft Elegant Cabinetry of Peoria, Arizona.
Today, the family’s patriarch, LeRoy Zachek, spends much of his time ranching, but still provides manufacturing, production and facilities consultation to the company. His daughter, Windy Zachek, runs the day-to-day business as CEO along with Charles Waiser, CFO.
Giving credit where credit is due
Midstate Mechanical has been part of the Arizona business landscape since 1986. The company’s diverse scope of services and expertise has helped it become one of the three largest mechanical contractors in the Phoenix Valley, and made Midstate a trusted provider for multiple industries—public and private.
Midstate Mechanical began life as a modest-sized piping company specializing in chilled water systems. Its specialty, combined with the company’s quality of work, quickly earned Midstate a positive reputation and plenty of business. And before long—with the addition of sheet metal ductwork services—the company evolved into one of the leading full-service heating, ventilation and air-conditioning contractors (HVAC) in the Phoenix area.
DBA Construction, Inc. has been part of the Phoenix Valley business community since 1996. What was once a small, highly specialized concrete subcontractor is now widely recognized as a leading provider of heavy civil construction services all across the Southwest.
“Honest, hard work and a firm handshake,” says Tom Drysdale, President, DBA Construction. “Those are the essential elements of business I learned growing up on my family’s farm in Yuma.” In this day and age, those elements may seem old-fashioned. But for Drysdale, they’re the foundation of all his business dealings and the central components of his company’s 20-year record of success.
Building Relationships—With Local Expertise
Consultant Engineering, Inc. (CEI) is a professional consulting firm celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2016. Today, CEI is one of the Southwest’s most accomplished construction management firms, boasting a staff of over 90 professional engineers, certified field inspectors, field testing technicians, field office administrators and support staff.
John Patterson, President and CEO, and Steve Bruflat, Executive Vice President and COO, co-founded CEI in 1996. Building on prior experiences and relationships accumulated while working as engineers in the public sector—Patterson with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), Bruflat with the city of Phoenix—the men set out to fill a void they observed in the construction industry market.
